A beloved fantasy novel from Michael Ende, originally published in West Germany in 1979. This is the first English translation -- done by Ralph Manheim. Not long after the book was adapted into a movie in 1984, followed by several more films. The book includes intricate illustrations by Roswitha Quadflieg, which are the same illustrations that appear in the original 1979 German text. Illustrations appear on the dust jacket as well as before the start of each new chapter.
Dust jacket in good condition overall with a bit of wear, tear, blemish throughout, including some wear/scuff marks on the back of jacket and a few small stains on the back inner flap of jacket. Protective transparent cover on the jacket.
Book in good condition overall with some wear, tear, blemish to the covers and spine -- in particular, some staining/discoloration to the front cover and inside cover, as well as some stains/discoloration on the top and side outer edges of book. A bit of yellowing to the pages.
