Joyce's hugely influential novel. Originally published in 1920. This is the first authorized American edition of the book, published after the publisher Random House challenged the existing ban on the book in the U.S. (due to obscenity laws) in 1933. Random House won the court case and the book was declared not obscene. This copy is the 3rd printing, dated January 1934.
Missing the dust jacket.
Book in good condition overall with some wear, tear, blemish to the covers and spine. A bit of discoloration to the side outer edge of pages. Large ex-libris sticker/nameplate on the inside of front cover. Pencil erasure marks on the first page. Some tearing to the inside hinge between the front cover and first page. Also some tearing to the inside hinge between the last page and inside of back cover. Yellowing to the pages.
